HOW DO WE PROVIDE IMPACT?

Professional Development

EASE provides professional development, in-school coaching, and curriculum for educators working with cognitively young learners and special needs populations. Experienced Teaching Artists work closely with teachers to implement EASE practices into their classroom and online via Schoology. Since 2010, we have trained over 1,700 teachers throughout NYC and Los Angeles. EASE training is also accessible to a wider community through our Summer Institutes which are held in New York City and Los Angeles.

Fostering Key Communication and Socialization Skills for Academic Success

Through arts-based curriculum, trainings, and teaching artist classroom coaching, EASE targets key areas for academic success including: communication and socialization skills, following directions, time on task, engagement, and arts proficiency. Some preliminary findings show that students made significant improvements toward their selected IEP goal (79%), engagement (80%), and time on task (77%) – priming our students for future success*. * As taken from the EASE Program Evaluation Student Progress Report for Standard Assessment Studies 2013-14, prepared by Dr. Rob Horowitz, Independent Evaluator.

Arts as a Delivery System

EASE integrates all art forms: dance, music, theatre, visual and digital arts to target specific academic areas of interest. Activities provide teachers with a menu of activities that address prevalent national standards and required content areas for educators.
