Step-by-Step Instructions
A very easy way to make a stage area is to make a masking tape rectangle on the floor.
Whoever will be copying the leader’s action is told ahead of time so they can pay extra attention!
“In a minute, ________ will repeat what I’m going to do.”
a. “Watch and listen!”
b. Leader performs action and words on stage
For example:
• walk over and look out the window/ say “It’s sunny outside.”
• open and look through a book / say “I’m reading this book.”
• jog in a circle / say “This is a lot of exercise!”
• put crayons into a bin / say “I’m cleaning up the crayons.”
As in the “Gaining Skills” activity, do not mime; use real objects as necessary.
a. “Now you do it, ______”
b. Selected player copies action and word on stage
Remember to clap and cheer at the end of each “performance”!
It is easiest to use one of these four basic emotions:
• happy
• sad
• scared
• angry
This is a very difficult activity to lead, so choose leaders who are able to demonstrate different emotions.
This course consists of additional activities for you to learn independently, plan with your coach, and try with your students!
