Step-by-Step Instructions
Basic – In Seats
For example, “When the music starts, move your hands!”
Students, teachers and paras move in whatever way was instructed in #1.
Students stop moving and freeze in place.
After the class masters moving their hands, try:
• moving feet or shoulders
• wiggling fingers or toes
• bobbing head
• raising eyebrows
• combining any of the above
• “in your chair dancing”
Basic – Standing
You may be able to simply instruct students to ‘Dance!’; however, if this is confusing, use specific instructions such as ‘Move your hands!’ or ‘Move your feet!’ as in the seated version.
There are several types of prompts that can facilitate effective Freezedance participation. Choose which prompts to use based on the experience and skill level of your students.
- Music on and off
- Adults modeling
- Lights on and off
- Verbal prompts
- Go and stop cards
