Step-by-Step Instructions
Make sure everyone can see the leader.
Play upbeat music (such as the EASE song, “Simon is Cool”).
It works well to say the words as you perform the actions (for example, say “Tap! Tap! Tap! Tap!” as you tap your knees).
Here is a routine we have found to be effective:
- a) Tap knees
- b) Scoop / clap / wiggle
- c) ‘Swim’
- d) ‘Roll it’
The leader goes into the center of the circle; they create and repeat one “move” that everyone follows.
The person in the center invites someone else to replace them in the center; they trade places.
The new leader creates and repeats their move and everyone copies it; they then choose a new leader who replaces them in the center.
The teacher becomes the leader again, and lead everyone through the routine of moves from Step 2.
