Two Instruments, Adult-Prompted Alternating
Each player chooses an instrument and sits in a chair facing the other player.
Other students and adults in the class watch as an audience.
The teacher sits or stands between the two players.

The teacher prompts Player 1 to play the instrument.
Player 2 must keep their instrument silent while they wait.
There are several options for prompting, discussed below.
Player 1 must stop and be silent while Player 2 plays.
Remember to keep turns short!
Depending on the needs of the student, prompting could include:
- verbal prompts (“Imani’s turn!”)
- physical prompts (a leader pointing to students when it’s their turn to play)
- GO and STOP cards
- Attach your cards so there is a GO sign on one side and a STOP sign on the other.
That way, when the teacher holds the card between the students, one sees GO while the other sees STOP.
(This is the opposite of the way we usually use GO and STOP cards, in which we definitely want the same thing on both sides!)
